Jakarta, Indonesia — Sari Pacific Jakarta, one of Jakarta’s few historic hotels, is about to celebrate it’s 46th anniversary. Here is a look back at the 46-year history of Sari Pacific Jakarta as a hotel of timeless elegance.
A thriving beginning
The hotel’s history begins on November 7, 1974, when the Minister of Transportation launched the hotel under the name Hotel Sari Pacific. It was the first Indonesian hotel under the Pan Pacific brand to have 500 rooms, and its iconic facade design and large courtyard made it heavily recognized.
Since the 1980s, the hotel went by the name Sari Pan Pacific Jakarta. The hotel had been known as the only hotel on Jakarta’s main street, Jl. Thamrin, with star rating. Not only famous for its accommodation, Sari Pan Pacific’s discotheque Pitstop and pastry shop Sari Delicatessen were equally popular local hotspots. Its popularity lands the hotel numerous prestigious awards, including six Adikarya Wisata awards, 2004’s Roof Garden Award, and 2010’s Asean Green Hotel Award.
A living tradition
As on March 1, 2018, the hotel rebranded as Sari Pacific Jakarta. Despite rebranding to fit in the modern landscape, the hotel takes pride in Jakarta’s culture. Sari Pacific Jakarta preserves important traditions alive while incorporating them throughout a refreshed and contemporary setting. The hotel reflects on the ethnically diverse & rich culture of Jakarta through its vibrant folklore, warm spirit, and bold crafts.
